Basin’s Backyard Garden has a temporary teen taxi

Our garden has a temporary helper this summer.

Zara Laber, daughter of Shauna Laber, Basin Electric senior property and right-of-way specialist, offered to taxi our veggies to their donation locations for the next few weeks.

Zara tends a garden of her own at home, and is adding her produce to our weekly donation as well.

Today, Zara, Shauna, and Lindsey Kostelecky, Basin Electric contract administrator II, weighed and loaded up the fresh veggies to deliver to Trinity Lutheran Church. The church holds The Banquet, a free meal for anyone in the community.

“It was so much fun to meet up with Lindsey and help weigh and deliver the backyard veggies! We weighed them and it added up to about 29.8 lbs. My mom and I delivered them to Trinity Lutheran Church where we had the pleasure of arriving at the same time as Carla, the banquet manager, who we were able to persuade into taking a picture with us,” Zara said. “I really enjoyed this experience and loved meeting all the important, kind people behind the scenes making this happen to help our community. I am also glad that the crazy amount of vegetables that we harvest every weekend find a good home.”
