Gardeners harvested the biggest Basin’s Backyard Garden harvest of all time in one day this week. On Aug. 26, volunteers brought in 164.8 lbs. of beets, potatoes, onions, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, and peppers.
The bounty was split into two donations: half went to Trinity Lutheran Church for their Thursday night meal called The Banquet, and half went to the Salvation Army.
The Banquet at Trinity Lutheran feeds approximately 300-400 people and more on Thursdays and every other Saturday.
The Salvation Army happily accepted half of Basin’s Backyard Garden donation this week. Produce “flies off the shelves” there.
Carla Sadowsky of Trinity Lutheran Church and Darlene Steffan of Basin Electric show off the donation to the church.
