After a busy and rainy week, several Basin’s Backyard Gardeners were able to get out there today over lunch to do our biggest harvest so far this year. We harvested 65 pounds of cucumbers, eggplants, beans and tomatoes. We even harvested our first bouquet. Scroll to the bottom of this post to watch the video. We tried Periscope, a live streaming app, to capture a little bit of today’s harvest, and posted the video on YouTube for your watching pleasure.

Today’s donation went to the Abused Adult Resource Center. They will split up the veggies between two of their shelters: Pam’s House and Diane Zainhofsky Hope House. Trish Potts, Abused Adult Resource Center administrative assistant and safety coordinator, says she knows one of the women loves to make cucumber salad and will have a heyday with today’s gift.
