Marigolds for miles

Marigolds!

Marigolds!

Well, “Marigolds for miles” may be overstating things a bit. But Sheila Renner and Tracie Bettenhausen did plant marigolds in the garden today.

Sheila brought up the idea for planting marigolds during the meeting held to map out the garden. She had heard marigolds can keep pests away, and the group decided to give it a shot.

When researching a little online, Sheila and Tracie found there are some who say marigolds do nothing for pest control, and others who say they do. Of those in the pro-marigold-for-pest-control camp, there were benefits stated for potatoes and tomatoes.

So Sheila and Tracie planted marigolds around the potatoes and tomatoes, and then the rest where the carrot rows ended.
